These are part of an Exhibition in 2012. The inspiration came from the work of Maasaru Emoto. He was the gentleman who used high-speed photography to document the effect of specific, concentrated thoughts directed towards frozen water. Loving thpoughts produced perfect clear crystals while negative ones had the opposite effect.
I wondered if using loving words as underpainting would have an effect. I used Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Sonnets From The Portuguese.
Occasionally you catch a word, but more likely you will see a fragment revealing itself on the surface. This made me think of discovering an ancient text - have we lost this language oe are we on the verge of rediscovering it? Does it affect the work past the obvious aesthetic?
